Welcome to the Lancashire Adult Policies, Procedure and Practice Portal (APPP).
We have introduced the portal to ensure all our staff and managers are able to access vital information to support, inform and enable the delivery of outstanding practice across Lancashire. In addition, this portal offers a single place where all adult services policies are available, up to date and accessible to the public to inform their choices and decision making about their lives.
Living Better Lives in Lancashire is our vision for Adult Services. It’s about supporting people to live their life their way, achieving the things that are important to them by focusing on what people can do, rather than what they can’t. Starting to work in the new way will be challenging at first, however it is essential so that we comply with our duties set out in the 2014 Care Act. As such, you will need to ensure that you follow our practice guidelines if you are involved in providing social care support, occupational therapy or are directly involved in the adult social care process in any way.
Here on the APPP you can find these practice guidelines and policies that are there to support you in your role, including our new practice handbook.

Living Better Lives in Lancashire is our vision for Adult Social Care and aims to support people in Lancashire to live as independently as possible. For more information please see: Living Better Lives in Lancashire – Our Vision
Our Living Better Lives in Lancashire Local Account is published every year to keep the public informed what we’re doing to improve the lives of adults who need care and support in Lancashire. For more information, please see: Care, support and wellbeing of adults update
On the portal you will have access to not only our policies and procedures, but a range of practice guidance to help you deliver a personalised, solution-focused, strengths-based service to the people of Lancashire.
You will also be able to see our practice handbook and the practice principles, which have been designed following feedback from staff. Our practice principles will show ‘what good looks like’ in our practice, to support quality and consistency across adult social care.
These principles are available to the public as well and show the people of Lancashire what to expect as a minimum standard from our social care workforce.
We have designed this portal to make sure our staff can easily access the policy, guidance, and support that they need to deliver our Living Better Lives in Lancashire vision.
